Talked to a guy at a car show who still uses a forum from 2008 for stock tips

He said he trusts the regulars there more than any app because they've been posting through three market crashes. It made me think about how we used to follow specific usernames for advice, not just algorithms. Now I'm digging up my old logins for a couple of those classic boards. Anyone still active on a forum that should have died years ago?

Man, that's amazing. I still check a guitar pedal forum from like 2006. The layout is straight out of a Geocities page and half the image links are broken. But the advice on there is solid gold because the same five guys have been arguing about tube screamers for 15 years. They've seen every knockoff come and go. Sometimes the old web just got it right.

Actually, that layout is more like Angelfire than Geocities. Geocities had those weird neighborhood themes. Angelfire was just pure, raw HTML. The broken image links are usually Photobucket holding them for ransom.
