Compared two bookkeeping apps for my small shop last month
I tried FreshBooks for 3 weeks then switched to Wave and the difference in how they handle invoice tracking was huge. Wave showed me exactly who was 30 days overdue, which saved me from chasing $2,300 in late payments. Anyone else notice big gaps between these platforms?

My buddy runs a landscaping crew and he switched from QuickBooks to Wave last spring. He called me all stressed saying Wave was showing like 15 clients over 60 days and he had no idea until then. He recovered almost $4k by the end of the month just from that feature. Did you find the invoicing part clunky at all with FreshBooks?

I actually had a totally different experience with FreshBooks invoicing... I tried it for about 6 months and honestly it drove me nuts. The whole workflow felt like it took 3 clicks to do what should take one, and I kept missing payments because the overdue alerts weren't in your face enough. My buddy runs a small handyman service and he ditched FreshBooks after 2 months because he said he was spending more time fighting the software than actually billing people. I can see how Wave's overdue tracking would help if you're recovering $4k though, that's pretty wild. But for me, FreshBooks just felt like it was built for people who already have their invoicing figured out, not for someone trying to catch up on late payments.
