That moment I had to choose between jersey knit and double knit for my line

I was making a run of summer tops for a local shop in Austin and couldn't decide between jersey knit for breathability or double knit for structure. Picked jersey and three of them puckered at the seams after the first wash. Anyone else dealt with fabric snags after picking the wrong stretch?

Oh man, that's such a rough lesson! My friend had a similar disaster with double knit once. She was making these cute little dresses for her niece and thought the double knit would hold up better for a kid running around, but after one wash the whole thing stretched out weird around the neckline and never snapped back. Jersey gave her fits with pucker too, but the double knit just sagged like an old t-shirt. She said she learned the hard way that fabric choice is half the battle, especially with stretchy stuff. Hope you can salvage the tops for something else, maybe cut them into tanks or something?

Did your friend try washing the double knit on a gentle cycle or cold water, or did she just toss it in regular? I've had stretch fabrics totally change shape after a hot wash even when the label says it's fine. Also curious if she used a stabilizer on the neckline seam, cause I've heard that can make a difference with certain knits.
