My aunt said my new dress looked like a fancy potato sack

I was so proud of this flowy linen shift dress I made for a summer party, but my aunt took one look and said, 'Honey, that's a five-star potato sack.' I ripped out the side seams and added some darts and a cool belt loop detail. Has anyone else gotten a weird comment that actually helped a design?

Wow, that's actually a pretty funny line from your aunt. I get what river_hart means about unhelpful comments, but sometimes the weird ones give you a fresh look at your work. Turning a potato sack into a cool belted dress is a great save. My mom once said my favorite jacket made me look like a park ranger, and now I lean into that style on purpose.
