Unpopular opinion: I gave a coworker a $20 bill I found in the parking lot, but my friend said I should've just kept it.

I saw it by a car near ours after our shift, so I turned it in at the front desk. Is that being honest or just making extra work for everyone?

Notice how people always say they want honesty but then call it extra work. You did the right thing by turning it in, simple as that. Makes you wonder what your friend would do if he lost his own twenty bucks.

Honestly, turning it in was the only move. Your friend's take is why we can't have nice things. If it was near a specific car, the front desk can at least try to get it back to the right person. Keeping it just makes the world a slightly worse place for no good reason.
