Overheard a guy at the diner say he never returns his shopping cart

I was grabbing a coffee at the Main Street Diner yesterday and the guy in the next booth said, 'I figure if they pay people to collect them, I'm just giving someone a job.' It really stuck with me. That feels like a cheap excuse to be lazy and make someone else's job harder for no good reason. Is leaving your cart in the parking lot actually a small, selfish act, or am I overthinking it?

Absolute trash take from that guy. It takes thirty seconds to walk it back. Leaving it out means it can roll into a car, block a spot, or sit in the rain. The person paid to collect them has to chase them all over the lot instead of just grabbing them from the corral. It's pure laziness wrapped in a fake nice guy excuse.

Ever notice how people treat public restrooms? Same energy. They'll leave paper towels on the floor right next to the bin, or not flush, because 'it's someone's job to clean it.' It's not about giving them work, it's about making a mess on purpose. That cart left in a parking lot spot is the same thing, just outside. It's a tiny choice that shows you don't care about anyone else.
