Oh, that's a really good point, jordan653. It makes me wonder if the pressure of having just one photo made people plan the shot better in their minds first. They had to really think about light and composition before clicking, instead of just snapping a hundred and hoping one turns out. That mental effort might have taught a different kind of skill. The limit forced a focus we've maybe lost now.

It also meant you had to wait to see if you got it right, which built patience. The whole process from setting up the shot to getting the film back was a lesson in delayed reward. That anticipation is totally gone with instant previews.
