Found a wallet in the grocery store parking lot and it took me 3 hours to return it
I was at the Food Mart on Elm Street last Thursday and saw a wallet on the ground by my truck. I opened it to find an ID, some cash, and a bunch of cards. The right thing was to get it back to the owner, but it was a whole process. I called the number on a gym card inside, which led me to call the gym, who then had to call the member. All told, from finding it to finally meeting the guy at a gas station, it took over 3 hours of my afternoon. It felt good to do it, but man, it ate up way more time than I thought. Has anyone else had a simple good deed turn into a half-day project?

Good deeds always take longer than you expect, right?

What if that's just a bad excuse people use? Sometimes good deeds are quick, like holding a door or giving a direct answer. I've seen plenty of simple kindness that didn't drag on at all. Maybe we only remember the long, hard ones and forget the easy stuff. Expecting it to always take forever can stop you from even trying.
