Just read that some elevator ropes from the 70s were designed to last 30 years, but we're still finding them in service.
Honestly, I was looking through some old Otis manuals in the shop and saw the expected service life for traction ropes. Found one still running in a 1974 apartment building downtown last week. How many of these old ropes are we actually supposed to be finding out there?

Ever think they'd all be gone by now? I used to, but seeing them still in use changed my mind.

What exactly did you see that made you change your mind? Like was it at a trade show or just out in the real world somewhere?
