I just realized I've pulled over 10,000 feet of wire this year alone.
Was cleaning out the van last night and found all my old spool tags. Started adding them up out of curiosity. Hit 10,200 feet. Mostly 12/2 Romex for a bunch of residential rewires in the old neighborhoods. It hit me that when I started, we were still using a lot of that old cloth-covered stuff. Now it's all plastic sheathing and color-coded grounds. Makes the work faster, sure. But I kinda miss the smell of that old insulation. Anyone else get weirdly nostalgic for the materials we don't use anymore?

Honestly, that old cloth wire was a fire hazard though.

Wasn't it the insulation that dried out and cracked? The cloth itself wasn't the main problem, it was the old rubber under it. That stuff just gets brittle over time.
