Hot take: Explaining job timelines to bosses keeps everyone sane

Had a project manager last week who thought we could rewire a whole basement in one day. I pulled out my phone and walked him through the steps, like pulling permits and testing circuits. He had no idea it took that long. We ended up adding two more days to the plan. Now the client is happy and we didn't rush. Always break down the work for non-electricians in charge. It stops crazy deadlines before they start.

Thomaswebb is right about crews cutting corners for a one day rewire, but I've seen it done clean with a full team when everything is open and accessible. If you plan all your home runs first and have a solid labeling system, speed doesn't always mean sloppy work. It just needs a very specific setup most basements don't have.

Unbelievable! One day for a full basement rewire? Even just pulling all that wire through the walls and stapling it properly takes way more time than that, forget about the panel work.

Yeah, "one day for a full basement rewire" sounds sketchy. I've seen crews do it, but they usually have a team of three and they cut every corner (like not stapling properly). Honestly, if it's just one person, it's gonna take at least a week to do it right.
