That moment my plumber saved me $800 with one sentence

I was getting quotes to move my laundry hookup to the basement wall. First guy quoted me $1200 and talked about jackhammering concrete. Then my regular plumber came by, looked at the setup for 5 minutes, and said 'you know we can just run the pipes through the ceiling joists instead.' Saved me $800 and a ton of mess. Has anyone else had a contractor suggest a simpler fix that totally changed your reno plan?

I actually saw a video about something like this the other day, some contractor talking about how so many jobs get overcomplicated because guys just default to the most expensive method. It's not even always about ripping you off, sometimes they just never stop to think if there's a simpler way. Your guy sounds like one of the good ones who actually respects your time and money. That's rare in this industry honestly, most people just want to swing the biggest hammer they can find. I bet that plumber has a lot of repeat customers just because he's honest about stuff like that.

Classic upsell attempt disguised as a solution. Good thing you didn't pay for that concrete party.
