Chatting with my neighbor about his basement leak changed how I look at grading
I was talking to my neighbor in Mill Woods last weekend about his soggy basement after the spring melt. He said he spent $800 on a new sump pump, but then his contractor friend told him to just fix the grading first. He said, 'You can pump all day, but if the water wants to go in, it'll find a way.' I'd always just thought about sealing the inside, but now I'm rethinking the whole outside slope around my own place. Has anyone else had a big fix that was actually way simpler once you looked at the cause?
