Remember when we used to carry all the sheets up by hand?
Had a job last week in a third floor walk-up, no elevator. Landlord wouldn't spring for a lift. Me and my partner had to hump 40 sheets of 5/8 up three flights. Took us half a day just to get the material on site. My back is still talking to me. Made me think about the old days before material carts were common on every truck. We'd just muscle everything. Now I see new guys with powered dollies and just shake my head. What's the worst material haul you've had to deal with lately?

Did the landlord at least have a clear path or was it one of those narrow, turning staircases with doors that swing the wrong way? That makes a brutal job impossible... I had a place like that last month where we had to stand each sheet on end just to get it around the landing corner.

Honestly wade558, it's not even about the stairs or doors most of the time. The real problem is the landlord never clears out the hallway first. You show up and there's a bike, a shoe rack, and a pile of junk mail blocking the whole path. Makes a simple job take three times as long because you're moving their stuff before you can even start. They just assume you'll figure it out around their clutter. Tbh, that's what makes it impossible, not just the building layout.
