Almost lost a ceiling job last month because of a bad batch of compound

Three years ago I had a job in Austin where the mud came out of the bucket looking fine, but after I hung 40 boards and taped them, the whole thing bubbled up like a snake belly by morning, has anyone else run into compound that went bad from a heatwave in the warehouse?

Honestly, are you sure it wasn't just cheap tape or a humidity issue?

3M VHB tape. That's what I used. $25 a roll. Still peeled up after two months. Humidity excuse doesn't hold in a climate-controlled apartment either. Some adhesives just don't stick to certain wall textures. I've tried sanding the spot first, cleaning with alcohol, everything. Ended up drilling a small hole for a screw anchor.
