Spent 4 hours on a Friday night because a client's old PDF had a hidden layer messing up my dimension strings.
Has anyone else had a similar ghost layer problem, and what's your go-to cleanup process for a corrupted import?

Man, I used to just flatten everything and hope for the best. Now I open it in a separate viewer first, something basic, and start turning off visibility layer by layer. You'd be shocked how much garbage hides under a single visible sheet.

My buddy Jake lost a whole Saturday to a city permit drawing. He found three separate hidden layers, each with its own messed up scale. Craig.reese has the right idea, checking in a basic viewer first. Jake's process now is to import into a blank file and delete anything that won't select normally. What do you do when the purge command doesn't catch everything?
