Spent $45 on a cheap drain snake and it actually saved me a plumbing call
My kitchen sink was backing up real slow for like a week. I was about to call a plumber but figured I'd try one of those $45 drum augers from the hardware store first. Took me maybe 20 minutes to feed it down the pipe and pull out this nasty wad of grease and food bits. Water runs perfect now. That would have cost me at least $200 for a plumber to do the same thing. Has anyone else had good luck with those cheap snake kits or did I just get lucky?

Yeah those cheap snakes work fine for most clogs, just don't expect it to last forever.

Wait, hang on - you're telling me those plastic drain snakes with the little hook on the end actually work for real clogs? I've always avoided them because they looked like toys you'd get at a dollar store. Last time I tried one I couldn't even get it past the first bend in the pipe without it bending all out of shape. Maybe I just got a really bad one but I figured they were all like that.
