Hot take: stop using glass side panels on your DIY case mods

I had a glass panel shatter on me last week during a LAN party in my buddy's garage in Austin. Three years ago I swore by tempered glass for the look, but after cleaning shards out of my PSU fan, I'm done. Has anyone else switched to acrylic or mesh panels on their custom builds?

LAN party in a garage? Man that's rough. I had a piece of tempered glass fail on me during a move last year and it still makes me twitch thinking about it. The sound was this awful crack and then little glass cubes everywhere, I'm still finding tiny bits in weird places. Straight up switched to acrylic after that, sure it scratches easier but at least it won't explode. I'd take a scratch over a thousand tiny razors any day of the week.

Man, tempered glass is no joke. I had a buddy who was moving his rig into a new place and the side panel just popped off the case mid-carrier. You know that sound? Like a light bulb exploding but way louder. He found glass bits in his carpet for like six months after. @johnson.ryan is right though, at least acrylic wont send shrapnel through your floor, even if it does look like a scratched CD by year two.
