Remember when everyone was putting in those glass tile backsplashes?

I dropped about $800 on the materials for a kitchen backsplash project back in 2015, thinking it was a timeless upgrade. The glass tiles from a big box store looked great for a year, but now they just feel dated and are a nightmare to keep clean. Anyone else have a once-trendy renovation they now regret a bit?

My sister's 2017 kitchen reno had that exact same glass tile from Home Depot. It looked so modern at the time, but now it just traps every grease splatter and the grout is permanently stained. We spent a whole weekend trying to scrub it and gave up. It feels so dark and heavy in there now.

Glass tiles were the avocado green appliances of our time. My backsplash looks like a permanent fingerprint collection now.
