Tried to paint my kitchen cabinets without sanding them first and now the paint is peeling off in giant sheets three weeks later
I watched a YouTube video that said you could just use a special bonding primer but clearly my cheap latex paint wasn't having it so has anyone else learned the hard way that skipping sanding is a total scam?

Oh man, I feel your pain! I did the exact same thing in my laundry room a few years back... bought all the fancy primer they recommended and still ended up peeling after a month. What finally worked for me was going back, scraping off all the loose stuff, and then using a liquid deglosser before I put on a fresh coat. That stuff really saves you the elbow work of sanding but still gives the paint something to grab onto. Just make sure you wipe it down real good after or you'll be right back where you started.

lol wait so did the deglosser actually work as good as sanding or did you still have to sand some spots after?
