My email campaign crashed hard on Tuesday and I figured out why
I was running a nurture sequence for a client in Austin and the open rates dropped from 24% to like 3% overnight. Turned out our domain got flagged by Gmail because we linked to a blog page that had some spammy comment links on it. I spent 4 hours scrubbing those comments and submitting a reconsideration request with Google. Has anyone else dealt with email deliverability tanking because of a random spammy backlink on your own site?

Damn, that's brutal. Four hours of scrubbing comments?

Yeah that's rough. I spent like five hours one time going through comments on a post that blew up way more than I expected. It was just me and my phone on the couch for half the night deleting spam and blocking bots. Total waste of a Saturday. Never doing that again without setting up some filters first.
