I used to think coworking spaces were just overpriced desks with bad WiFi and coffee that tastes like burnt toast. But I spent 3 weeks at Punspace in Chiang Mai last month and something clicked. It wasn't the fancy design or the free fruit, it was the actual work culture. Everyone there was heads down by 9am, taking real breaks at noon, and gone by 5pm like it was a normal office. I realized I'd been romanticizing the whole cafe hopping thing for years, never getting real flow. Being around that kind of quiet focus made me way more productive than any playlist or pomodoro app ever did. Now I'm wondering if I should just build my whole travels around finding spaces like that instead of winging it. Has anyone else switched their setup after one great coworking spot, or am I late to this?
There was this one place in Lisbon, LX Factory or whatever, where I paid 40 euros a day and the chairs were so uncomfortable I basically learned to stand while coding. But the vibe was so weirdly intense that I actually finished a whole project there in 2 days. Still think Punspace sounds better though, might have to try it just for the free fruit.
