My cousin told me to run a TikTok ad with a dancing cat for our local bakery
He swore it would go viral and bring in new customers, so I spent $200 on a 5-day campaign last month. We got over 50,000 views but only 3 people actually came into the shop in Denver. The analytics showed most viewers were under 18 and lived in other states. Has anyone else had a viral social media moment that totally failed to convert?

Remember when everyone was doing those ice bucket challenges? Our office did one and it got shared like crazy, but half the people tagging us thought we were a plumbing company, not a temp agency. We got a bunch of calls asking to fix frozen pipes. It's like the internet just sees something fun and hits share without even looking at who posted it, you know?

That "boring local stuff" idea is the real deal, it's like people only pay attention to what actually helps them.

Oh man, that's rough. I tried a funny video for my bike shop once and it was all likes from people nowhere near us. Total waste. What finally worked was a simple, boring video showing exactly how to fix a flat tire. We called it "Local Bike Repair Wednesday" and used the Denver area tags. Got way fewer views, but the people who watched it actually walked in the next week. You gotta target the boring local stuff, not the flashy viral stuff.
