Just realized most cold emails get read in under 3 seconds

I saw a study from an email tracking service that said the average time someone spends on a cold email before deleting is 2.7 seconds. That means if my subject line and first sentence don't hook them by word 5, I'm done. Has anyone else adjusted their approach after seeing stats like this?

Wait, 2.7 seconds? That's barely enough time to even read the subject line. I'd be shocked if people are actually that quick to delete, but I guess with the preview thing they're just skimming the first few words anyway.

Read that study too and honestly I think the timing might be a little off... most email apps show a preview of the first few words so people are really just scanning that tiny snippet first.
