Pro tip: The 'recently deleted' folder is not a backup plan, learned that the hard way
So I spent a whole Saturday clearing out my camera roll, deleted about 2,300 photos and videos feeling all smug about it. Then I found out my phone only keeps stuff in 'recently deleted' for 30 days, and I had deleted some clips from my cousin's wedding back in March thinking I could grab them later. It took me 4 hours of digging through Google Photos cloud backups and asking my mom if she had copies, and I only recovered like 12 of the 40 I wanted. Is it just me, or does anyone else treat that folder like a permanent safety net and then panic when it actually empties out? How long do you all wait before you consider something truly gone for good?
Man, that's exactly what got me too. Used to just assume anything I deleted would sit there forever, like some kind of digital attic I could raid whenever I felt like it. Then one day I went looking for this video of my dog being a puppy and poof, gone, 31 days had passed and I didn't even notice. Now I treat that folder like a countdown timer, if I haven't saved it somewhere else within two weeks, it's basically already dead to me.
