Stuck between a big Wacom tablet and a smaller iPad for my first digital art setup.
I had about $500 saved and chose the iPad because I liked drawing on the screen directly. It's been good for sketching but I'm struggling with big, detailed pieces on the smaller screen. Anyone have tips for working on larger canvases with a smaller device?

Big, detailed pieces on the smaller screen" is a real challenge. I saw an artist online who zooms in and works on one section at a time like a puzzle.

That's a really smart way to handle it. Honestly, I used to think you just had to suffer through the zooming and panning on a small tablet. Seeing someone work section by section like @rowan666 mentioned totally changed my mind. It turns a huge, scary canvas into a bunch of smaller, manageable pieces. Makes me want to try a more complex piece on my old device now.
