My first digital painting took 8 hours, my second took 20 minutes and looked better
I redrew the same sunset scene from a photo I took in Phoenix on my old tablet, and somehow the quick sketch with just 3 layers beat the one where I went crazy adding 47 layers and zooming in on every pixel, has anyone else found that speed helps you loosen up and get past the overthinking stage?

Started experimenting with timers on my own redraws after hitting the same wall, so I feel this hard. Setting a 30 minute limit on a piece forces me to make quick choices about colors and shapes instead of second guessing every brushstroke. The rushed version always has this raw energy that the polished one loses, like the mistakes become part of the charm. I noticed I spend way less time fussing over line art when I just let the sketch stay messy and build on top of it. Now I do a fast pass first, save it, then decide if the slow version is even worth doing. Most of the time it isnt, and that saved me so much frustration.
