That old farmer who showed me how to start a dead engine with a leather belt
I was working on a broken down tractor last spring on a farm outside Lubbock, and this 70 year old farmer walked up and said "son, you're overthinking it." He grabbed a leather belt from his truck, wrapped it around the flywheel, and gave it one hard pull to get the thing turning over. Has anyone else run into a trick like that that just made you feel stupid for not knowing it?

Seen this play out a bunch in different areas of life. Ask about one specific thing and suddenly it's like people wanna flex their whole setup or tell you their whole life story. Usually the answer is just "a green one" or "an old Massey Ferguson" but folks turn it into a novel. Same thing happens when you ask someone what phone they got or what kind of car they drive. Simple question, simple answer most of the time.
