People keep using anti-seize on flywheel bolts

Been doing transmissions at the shop in Tulsa for 6 years now and I keep seeing guys slapping copper anti-seize on flywheel bolts before torquing them down. That stuff changes the friction coefficient so your torque readings are way off. Had a Ford 6.0 come back last month with the flex plate cracked because the bolts loosened up. Has anyone else ran into this or am I the only one who follows the TSBs?

...and it's EXACTLY the same mentality as people who put WD-40 on EVERYTHING. It's like they think a little lube fixes all problems. I had a guy tell me once he puts anti-seize on his spark plugs because "they're easier to get out next time." Yeah well now they're 20 ft-lbs loose because you changed the friction factor. This whole "better safe than sorry" attitude ignores that the engineers who wrote the torque specs actually tested the damn parts dry. Same reason people over-torque lug nuts because they think tighter is stronger, then wonder why their rotors warp.

Yeah, I used to be that guy until I warped a rotor myself.
