Hot take: Stop yanking on wiring harnesses like they're tow straps

I was helping a kid in Portland swap an injector on a 6.0 last Saturday and he just grabbed the harness and pulled. He snapped two pins clean off and acted surprised. Is it really that hard to unclip the connector before you start pulling on it?

Same thing happened to me on an old 5.9, snapped a pin and spent way too long with a flashlight and tweezers. @johnson.lee is right, those little lock tabs are a pain but they save your butt if you just take two seconds to pop em first. Rushing always ends up costing more time in the long run, I swear.

Funnily enough I learned that lesson the hard way on a 7.3 back in 09. I was rushing to get an ICP sensor swapped before a storm hit and gave the harness a good yank. Snapped two pins and spent the next hour with a pick set fishing them out of the connector. Now I keep a trim tool set in my door pocket specifically for those little red and gray lock tabs. Pop the lock first then gently rock the connector side to side while pulling. Takes an extra 15 seconds but saves you a world of hurt.
