Booked the same Alaska cruise 3 weeks out instead of 9 months early and saved $1,400, but got stuck with an interior room
My wife thinks waiting till the last minute is genius since we paid $899 each instead of $2,300, but I missed out on picking a balcony and we got the worst dining time, so is the savings worth losing the room you actually want?

Dude we did the exact same thing on a Caribbean run last year and honestly the savings were real but so was the pain. We ended up in a room right under the pool deck, so every morning at 6am it sounded like elephants doing zumba above our heads. My wife still says it was worth it because we saved enough to do two extra shore days, but I would've paid that money back just for a quiet nap. Balcony though, man, that's the killer. Nothing beats drinking coffee out there while everyone else fights for a deck chair. You got a good deal but you're not crazy for feeling like you lost something.
