Showerthought: I tried writing from a prompt every day for a week versus just when I felt like it
I mean, I used to wait for inspiration, maybe writing once or twice a week. Last Monday, I forced myself to use a random prompt generator for 15 minutes each morning. By Friday, I had three solid story starts, while my old method gave me maybe one. The daily practice just made ideas flow easier, even on bad days. Has anyone else found a strict schedule helps beat writer's block?

Wait, you got three story starts from just fifteen minutes a day?

Seriously, it's like brushing your teeth. You don't wait for inspiration to decide to brush them, you just do the quick daily thing and it keeps everything from falling apart. That tiny bit of regular effort stops the blank page from being so scary. I get way more done with a dumb timer than I ever did waiting to feel "ready". The spark usually shows up while you're already moving.

But what if forcing it just makes you hate writing? I tried that strict schedule thing and ended up with pages of stuff I had to throw out. It felt like busy work, not real creative flow. Honestly, my best ideas still come from waiting for that spark, not a timer.
