Pro tip: my workshop leader in Boise handed out blank index cards and made us write one line before we could talk
First meeting I sat there for 12 minutes staring at a card because I had nothing, and now I show up with 5 lines already down. Does anyone else prep lines before a session, or do you just wing it and hope something falls out?
Started doing this with everything after I noticed how much better I am when I write stuff down first. Phone calls to my insurance company, talks with my kid's teacher, even texts to my sister when we're fighting. If I jot down two or three points before I open my mouth, I actually say what I mean instead of rambling for ten minutes and forgetting the main thing. It's like my brain needs the warm up or the good stuff stays stuck somewhere in the back. The blank card thing sounds annoying at first but it's really just training you to think ahead.
