My old writing prompt method was just a notebook and a pen

I used to sit with a blank page for an hour, waiting for a good idea. Last month, I started using a deck of tarot cards I found at a yard sale for $2. Now I just pull a random card, like the Three of Swords, and write a story about a heartbroken space pirate. It's way less pressure and way more fun. What's the weirdest thing you've used to kickstart a story idea?

What's wrong with a cheap deck if it gets the job done? My two dollar cards have held up just fine for years.

Seriously, that price is a red flag. Cheap cards are basically disposable. They'll get sticky after one game night and bend if you look at them wrong. You're better off spending five more dollars on something that lasts.
