Switched to a smooth-boom crane for a tight pick in downtown Nashville and got twice the precision I expected
I figured the hydraulic controls would feel sluggish compared to cable but that 60 ton Terex put a beam right between two walls with half an inch to spare on each side, has anyone else found smooth-boom actually better for confined urban jobs?

Ngl that's pretty much what I found too when we had to set AC units on a rooftop in a tight alley downtown. The smooth boom let me feather the controls way better than a cable crane, you can actually creep the load instead of fighting the sway. Just make sure your outriggers are dead level on that urban asphalt, one soft spot and you're kissing that wall.

Feather the controls" is nice but watch your counterweight swing on those urban streets.
