Vent: Spent hours fixing bogus labor hour forecasts in my scheduling app.
Turns out the default settings assumed perfect weather every day. I adjusted it for real-world delays and now it's actually useful.

Ugh, why do so many apps do that? Like they think nobody ever gets a flat tire or a sudden downpour. Bet it also assumed every worker shows up exactly on time and never calls in sick. Those perfect-world defaults make the whole thing useless until you fix them. Good on you for digging into the settings and making it work for real life.

You add buffer time for weather delays? I always pad the estimates, keeps the crew on track.

Scott.mia called the defaults useless, but I disagree. Apps show the ideal plan so you have a goal to aim for. If they built in every delay, schedules would be too loose and waste time. You're supposed to adjust for real life, that's how you learn what affects your work. Starting perfect helps you see where things go wrong.
