Thought we needed a $6k estimating suite, a guy in Dayton saved us with a shared spreadsheet
Last month my boss got sold on a big estimating platform after a trade show in Columbus. We spent three weeks loading old jobs in and the takeoff tool kept missing wall openings, so our numbers were off by around 4 percent on a 12 unit build. A sub in Dayton asked why we weren't just running a shared sheet with locked formulas and a simple waste factor column. We tried it on a Friday afternoon and finished the next bid in two hours. Anyone here actually gone back to plain sheets after paying for software, and how did you handle the sunk cost?
