Vent: my uncle swore the moon landing was faked, so I bet him $50 and actually read the debunk threads
Honestly this started as a joke at a family BBQ in Bakersfield last month. My uncle goes on this whole thing about the flag waving and the shadows being wrong, and I'm just nodding because I've heard it a hundred times. So I say fine, give me two weeks and I'll actually look into it, loser buys lunch. I figured the fastest trick was to skip the big debunk videos and just search each specific claim on a forum like this one, one at a time, with the word 'explained' after it. Ngl that shortcut worked way better than I expected. The flag waving thing took me ten minutes to figure out, it was a spring loaded rod the astronauts bent, and there's footage of them messing with it. The shadow angle thing got torn apart in a thread from like 2011 with actual math. Two weeks later I sat down with him and went claim by claim, and he just kept saying 'yeah but' until my aunt told him to pay up. Has anyone else actually tried the one claim at a time thing? I feel like arguing the whole thing at once is why nobody ever wins these.
