I tried the 'watch the sky for 30 minutes' thing after a guy at a gas station in Roswell told me to
So this older guy at a pump in Roswell, New Mexico told me last spring that if I stared at one patch of sky for 30 minutes every night I would see things. Not planes. Things. I did it for 11 nights straight in my backyard with a lawn chair and a thermos, and I saw exactly zero UFOs. But here is the funny part. On night 7 I saw a satellite, two owls, and my neighbor Gary watering his lawn at 11pm in his underwear. I got so locked in on scanning for craft that I started noticing regular stuff I had never caught before, like how the same three planes cross my house around 9:40 every night. Now I kind of get why people in this community argue so hard about sky stuff, because once you sit out there long enough your brain starts turning every light into a maybe. My question is, has anyone here actually kept a sky log for a whole season, and did staring that long make you see more or just make you paranoid?
