Tried speedrunning Super Mario 64 on a CRT and actually got worse times than on my modern TV
Everyone swears by CRT for old games but I did 20 runs on each setup last Sunday and my average was 12 seconds slower on the CRT. The input lag thing might matter for frame-perfect stuff but the blurry picture messed up my depth perception on those tight jumps, anyone else find CRTs overrated for 3D platformers?

That 12 second average tells me you're not wrong for 3D games honestly. The blur on a CRT is way worse for judging distance in Mario 64 than whatever tiny input lag you'd get from a modern screen. People forget that CRTs were built for 240p 2D stuff where pixel response time actually mattered, not polygon platformers.

Heard a few speedrunners say the same thing on a podcast, spencer_ross is spot on about that depth perception issue.
