That one comment about couch co-op made me reconsider old habits

I used to skip any game that didn't have online multiplayer, figured local play was dead weight. Last month a buddy in Chicago said 'you're missing the point, it's about who's actually in the room,' which sounded cheesy but stuck with me. I dug out a 2018 racing game with split screen and we ran a full night of it, zero lag, tons of yelling. Now I check for local modes before buying anything, even if I mostly play alone. Anyone else flip on this after years of ignoring couch co-op?

That whole shift hit me hard too, I used to roll my eyes at local multiplayer until my cousin came over with a beat up old wrestling game. We stayed up till 3am just taking turns and laughing at each other's failed button mashing, and it beat any online lobby I'd been in for years. The feeling of someone actually next to you reacting in real time is something you can't fake, glad you found it again.
