Walked a job site in Phoenix last week and counted 14 control joints cut the same day the slab got poured
Talked to the finisher running the saw. He said the GC wanted it done before the concrete got too hard. I told him that is how you get random cracks.
We pour here in the valley with 100 degree heat. You cut too early, you tear the edges. You cut too late, it cracks where it wants.
They had one guy on a walk behind saw trying to keep up with 6,000 square feet. No water tank on it either.
Got me thinking about how crews up north do it different. What are you all cutting at? Time or hardness?
