The customer who swore his PC was 'haunted' because the fan kept turning on

Had a guy bring in a desktop last week saying it would 'wake up and breathe' at 3 AM every night. He'd unplugged everything but the power cord. Took me about ten minutes to find the BIOS setting for 'Wake on LAN' that was still turned on from some old remote access software. His router was sending a signal that booted the machine. He looked so relieved it wasn't a ghost. How many of you have run into a 'haunted' machine that was just a weird setting?

My uncle did that with his old fridge. The compressor would kick in and make this low hum through the floorboards hours after he pulled the plug. Tbh, some appliances hold a charge or have parts that settle and make noise. He was convinced it was a ghost for weeks.
