That customer who argued his PC was fine but it had 14 malware infections
Had a guy walk into my shop in Phoenix last Tuesday, swearing his computer ran fine while a dozen popups were cascading down his screen. He told me "It's just the internet being slow" as I watched a fake antivirus program count 47 infections. Took me 20 minutes just to get him to admit his banking info might be compromised. Any other techs have customers living in denial this hard?

Man honestly I feel this so hard. The guy who brought in his laptop claiming it was "just a little slow" but I found 8 browser toolbars and a crypto miner running in the background didn't even blink when I showed him the task manager. It's like people think malware is just a myth until their bank account gets drained or their computer literally stops working. Had one lady tell me her computer was fine because she only used it for Facebook and email like those are somehow immune to infections. Tbh the denial phase is almost always the longest part of the job for me.

Started telling people I'd show them the 'bad stuff' running on their machine in plain English, not tech jargon. It clicked way faster once they saw their own computer literally mining Bitcoin for some stranger.
