PSA: Fake power supplies showing up in bulk orders lately.

Got a batch from a new supplier last month. Three units fried motherboards on test benches. Labels look perfect but internals are junk. Now I inspect every box before install.

A tech forum post last week said some fakes now pass the weight test. They're filling empty spaces with metal scraps or cheap concrete to match the real weight. The person recommended checking the serial numbers against the maker's website before even plugging anything in. That seems like a solid next step beyond just looking inside. It's scary how good the fakes are getting. I'm going to start calling the supplier with the serial in hand for any sketchy looking batch.

Oh man, I've seen this too! We got a batch of fakes that took out a whole test rack. It's why I won't skip the visual inspection anymore.
