Just realized I've fixed exactly 1,000 laptops with the same weird hinge crack

It's always the left hinge on that one popular budget model from three years back, the one with the flimsy plastic frame. I swear I could do it blindfolded now, it's like a weird party trick. Anyone else have a specific repair they've done so many times it feels like muscle memory?

What if the hinge was actually fine and people just treat their laptops like garbage? I've seen that model survive way more abuse than it should, so maybe it's a user problem. That many identical breaks just sounds like a common clumsy habit.

Nah, julia's got a point about user abuse on some models, but a thousand identical cracks on the same spot? That's a manufacturing defect waiting to happen, not a clumsy owner club. Be curious if you've ever pulled one apart and seen the metal hinge bracket actually snapping the plastic mount, or if it's just the outer shell cracking from normal opening and closing. That model's hinge design was notorious for putting torque right on a thin plastic tab that couldn't handle it.

A thousand is a crazy number. That model must have been way more popular than I thought, or just really badly made.
