Client called me at 11pm on a Tuesday about a printer that only jammed on page 3 of 40
Turns out the tray lift plate spring was bent from someone yanking the paper out sideways, and a $4 part from the shop down on Ash St fixed what two other techs told her needed a whole new unit. Anybody else keep a stash of those tiny springs, or do you just order the whole tray assembly and eat the cost?
Those lift plate springs are basically a wear item nobody talks about, I keep a little bag of them from McMaster for like 12 bucks for 50. Way cheaper than eating a whole tray assembly every time some office hero rips paper out sideways. Honestly the bigger problem is clients think 11pm is a normal time to call about a jam, that part I cant fix with a spring.
