Unpopular opinion: VLANs or flat network for a 60 person office? My switch locked up Tuesday and I had to choose on the spot
Our core switch at the Chicago office locked up at 9:40am and took down all 60 desks plus the phones, and while I was staring at a console cable wondering if I should rebuild the whole thing flat to bring people back faster or keep the VLANs and just reboot, I went with the reboot, but now half my team says segmentation saved us from a broadcast storm and the other half says a flat network would have been up in 5 minutes, so which side are you on?
