Took me 11 hours to find a bad SFP module in a 24-port stack

Ngl, I spent a whole Saturday swapping patch cables and rebooting switches at a client site in Phoenix before I thought to test the transceivers individually. Turns out one cheap SFP was passing light but dropping frames under load, and the switch logs said nothing useful the entire time. Has anyone else had a physical layer fault that just refuses to show up in SNMP or CLI diagnostics?

Did you check the error counters per port before swapping everything?
