Spent $140 on a cheap switch, learned my lesson the hard way
I used to think any gigabit switch would do the job. Picked up a no-name 8 port for $140 for a client's office refresh. Within 3 days it started dropping packets under load. Client called me at 7 AM on a Tuesday, their POS system kept freezing. Swapped in a used Cisco I found for $90 and zero issues since. The cheap one's power supply was undersized, plain and simple. Anyone else burn cash on budget gear before admitting the real stuff saves time?
